Healthy Habits for Fifth Graders
Eating Well
Eating a balanced diet is important for good health. It's important to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, protein, and whole grains. Avoid eating too many unhealthy snacks, like candy and chips. Instead, try snacking on fresh fruit, nuts, or carrots with hummus. Always drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated.
Staying Active
Physical activity is important for staying healthy and strong. Kids should get at least an hour of exercise every day. This can be anything from riding a bike to playing soccer to going for a walk with friends or family. It's also important to limit screen time and spend more time playing outside.
Getting Enough Sleep
A good night's sleep is important for our bodies and minds to function properly. Fifth-graders should be getting at least nine hours of sleep each night. To improve sleep, establish a bedtime routine and stick to it every night. Avoid using electronics or bright lights for at least an hour before bed. A comfortable and quiet sleeping environment is also important for good sleep.
